History

This cute little fox was discovered by Charles Darwin during his adventures aboard the Beagle in 1834.

It was during this voyage that Darwin believed he found an entirely new species of fox, perfectly named after Darwin himself.

For the longest time, scientists thought that Darwin's Fox was actually a subspecies of the South American gray fox, however genetic analysis proved the fox's status as an unique species.
